It's a beautiful mess...
It was a quiet Tuesday at work. One of my managers and I were able to plan our upcoming new visual change and start on a few projects.
I usually go home on my lunch break and yesterday Matt was talking about tearing up the carpet. Laughing along because I didn't think he would do it, I said "ooo that would be fun!" Left home and heading back to work, not thinking any more about it.
We've been talking about pulling out the carpet and refinishing our wood floors, but I have a couple of other projects I thought I wanted to get done before we tackled the floors.
After work I turned on our street, headed towards our house and as I got closer I saw the pile of carpet and padding that filled the driveway. I thought, it's begun. Haha!
We spent the rest of the night pulling up the tack board, pulling out staples and cleaning up the mess.
Which brings us to today. We grabbed some supplies at Home Depot, and recruited a friend to help sand. I'm feeling a bit frazzled because we didn't fully plan this out, but might as well go with the momentum to see what we can accomplish. We might be living in a mess while we try to make this house a home, and one day it'll all be completed.
This is the first time either one of us have refinished floors. I'm planning to write about our experiences and hopefully be able to help someone out there! Or just write about it for pure entertainment because things are about to get interesting.
